Safe to delete a user account and recreate?

Dear Support,

One of our users is not seeing any items in the browse windows (.e.g. Sales Orders). Its probably not easy to fix or is it? Or is it safe for me to delete the record and setup the user again?

Will a new record, if given the same name and email address pick up all the history and emails?
